BRAVES NEWS & GAME RECAPS:

Krska Tournament

The Braves played three game starting with game one on Friday against host Barberton and lost 11-3.  Barberton started with an 8 run first to distance themselves and put the game away early.  Verbofsky held them down for the next four innings and the Braves scored 3 runs during that span.  Two runs in the top of the 6th put the game away.  Foster took the loss.

Saturday the Braves played the Ashland Dawgs and lost 6-5.  Some questionable umpiring behind the plate cost the Braves a chance to win.  Due to time limit, the winning run scored in the bottom of the 6th.

Sunday the Braves played the Pennsylvania playmakers.  The Braves lost 6-3.  Tied at 3-3 for most of the game, the Braves gave up three in the bottom of the 6th and time ran out after that inning.

Game 18

The Braves host the first place champion NC Cardinals and lost 14-3.  Too much hitting from the Cardinals and not enough from the Braves caused this loss.

Game 17,

Playing a make up game against Premier, the Braves laid an egg.  Multiple errors and ineffective hitting hurt the Braves as they lost 12-7.  The lead spotted back and forth until Premier put up four in the 5th inning to put the game away.  Jakob Saar hit a 3 run homer in a 5 run first inning to pace the Braves.  Verbofsky also homered in the first.

Game16,

On Sunday the Braves went to Strongsville to beat the Bobcats 8-6.  The Braves jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead after two  and held on for the win.  The Braves had 9 hits in the game, but stranded 7 runners including the bases loaded in the 7th.  Mocio went 5 innings for the win and Verbofsky closed out the game.

Game15,

The Braves went to Independence on Saturday and lost a 12-11 in the bottom of the 7th.  The Braves jumped out to a 9-2 lead after 1 1/2 innings, but poor filelding including 7 errors in the first four innings let Indy climb back into the game.  The Braves pounded out 17 hits in the game and had multiple players with 2 and 3 hit games.  Foster started and deserved a better fate going 5 innings and giving up 10 runs, though only 3 were earned.

Game14,

The Braves face North Royalton again on Friday at home and played one of the worst games of the season.  Playing at Berea High School, the Braves gave up an 8 run 3rd inning with multiple errors and lost 13-5.  Verbofsky started going 2 innings plus and Mocio went the rest of the game.  The Braves pounded out 7 hits with 2 hits each from Brosky, Foster and Fischer.

Game 13,

The Braves came back home and beat the NEO Panthers 11-6.  The Braves pounded out 11 hits with multiple hit games from : Nate Wilke, Doug Verbofsky, Zach Brosky, Joe Stuhldreher and Jake Fischer.  Fischer had a homer and 4 RBI.  Brosky started and got the win with 3 relievers finishing the game.

Game 12,

The Braves came back after the holiday to start their marathon of 8 games in 9 days.  The Braves pounded out 12 hits in a heartbreaking loss in the bottom of the 7th, 10-9.  Kevin Adams, Nate Wilke, Jesse Foster, Doug Verbofsky, Jake Fischer and Tyler Mocio all had two hits.  Pitching was the killer for the Braves as North Royalton pounded out 11 hits and 8 walks for the win.

Game 11,

After a week layoff, the Braves played on the 28th against Griffin Sports.  Brosky started the game and got no help from his defense as they committed 9 errors.  The Braves managed 2 runs on 3 hits in the first to take a lead that quickly went away.  The 7-2 loss knocked the Braves to 5-6.

Game 10,

Short some players due to camps and vacations, the Braves playing short handed dropped their next game to Middleburg 21-7.  Pitching was tight for the Braves and the mudcates pounded out 20 hits in the game.  Foster managed 3 hits with a triple and Brosky pounded out 2 of his own.

Game 9,

The Braves played their ugliest game of the year.  Harmon started the game and did not rertire a batter until Brunswick batted around in the inning and went two plus innings.  We later found out that he had a broken bone in his hand from the previous game and could be done for the rest of the year.  The Braves managed to pound out 5 hits and a run in losing 21-1.

Game 8,

the Braves came home for a second matchup against the Rangers from Lakewood.  After spotting the Rangers with 6 runs in the second with sloppy play, the braves scored 6 in the 3rd and 8 more in the 4th for a 16-7 win.  Jake Fischer went the distance with 8 k's and three hits including a triple and 5 RBI.  Verbofski, Foster and Stuhldreher also had 3 hits as the Braves had 18 hits total in the win.

Game 7,

Braves started the week at Medina to play Premier baseball.  Doug Verbofsky went 6 innings for the win.  He also hit a 3 run homer in the first to pad the lead on the way to a 9-5 win.  Multi hit games for Verbofsky with 3 hits, Foster with a hit and RBI and Brosky closed out the game for the win.  The braves pounded out 11 hits in the win.

Game 6,

Playing their first home game at Parknoll against NC Vipers on June 8th.  The vipers started out with 3 in the first and never looked back.  The Braves looked like the Indians leaving over 11 baserunners through the game.  Down 8-0 in the 7th, the Braves tallied twice to get the final and lose 8-2.  Harmon went the distance for the tough loss and also lead the team with two hits.

Game 5,

Played at Highland and the Braves started out down 6-0 after two innings, then Jesse Foster launched a 340' homer into the bus lot in right field to cut the lead in half.  Highland put up four more in the bottom of the inning.  Verbofsky came in relief of Foster and that point and held Highland through the 6th.  The Braves down 10-3, added 3 in the 5th, then scored 4 in the top of the 7th to take the lead.  Fighting darkness in the bottom of the 7th, some critical errors were made and Highland tallied twice to win 12-11.  Verbofsky great in relief took the loss with the two unearned runs in the 7th.  The Braves pounded out 8 hits with Joe Stuhldreher leading with a 3-4 day with a double and 3RBI.

Games 1, 2 & 3,

With three games in three days the Braves started the season with a tough 2-1 loss to the North Coast Cardinals.  Pete Harmon pitched a four hitter, but the Braves could not muster enough offense with only five hits and stranding nine runners.  On Thursday they traveled to Lakewood and beat the Rangers 10-4.  Jesse Foster tried to go the distance, but tired in the 7th and Verbofsky came in to finish the game.  Zach Brosky had a double and triple and drove in three runs.  Jake Fischer had two hits and drove in two runs as well.  On Friday the Braves went to Parma to play the NEO Panthers.  The Braves put up a five spot in the top of the first and never looked back in their 15-4 win.  Conner Ticherich pounded out four hits and four RBI to pace the team.  Jesse Foster had three hits with a double and two RBI.
The Braves pounded out 16 hits in the game.  Verbofsky got the win on one hit ball for five innings.  The Braves go to their fourth road game to start the season in Fairview Park against Griffin Sports on Sunday.

Came from behind with three in the 3rd and another in the 4th to defeat Griffin Sports 6-4.  The Braves were paced by Pete Harmon, Jesse Foster, Jake Fischer and Joe Stuhldreher with two hits each.  Zach Brosky also added a hit with two RBI and Jesse Foster added 3 RBI.  Pete Harmon came in relief in the first and pitched the distance for the win with shutout ball and giving up four hits.  Braves finish their 5 game road trip in Hinley at Highland on Tuesday.
