VARIOUS PICTURES FROM LAST TWO PRACTICES

with comments from Coach Aten

Dan, as you can see, you need to concentrate on the little things such as lining yourself up. The yellow line is a good indicator. At future practices, take a second to align yourself with the painted lines as an added assistance.

Here Dan is just dropping hands from out of the set position, which is good. His feet are a little better aligned, but shoulders are a bit open.

Very good "wing-span" and stretching out. Weight looks distributed well with 60% of Dan's weight still on back leg. Hand on top of the ball, although could be turned backward a bit more. Dan's grip does not look right here, we will work on that.

Dan coming forward, stepping toward plate target, arm almost forming the "L", glove pointing toward target well. Dan was one of the ones who showed up better on film than initial look in person, but appears to have a nice mechanic base to build from.

Good follow through, but notice the glove hand. That glove should be tucked inward toward chest.

Here Louis has excellent wing-span (arms out-stretch and balanced), weight distributed well 60/40 on back leg. Focused on target. Hand/fingers on top of ball.

Louis' arm forms a nice "L", hand/fingers now behind the ball. Plant foot pointed toward catcher well. My biggest critique of this shot is Louis' glove hand. I'd like to see it curled more toward the body (see Jacob's Delivery above).

In this shot Rob is aligned well, although we noticed that his fingers were spread too wide on the ball. Make sure your fingers are behind the ball in order to deliver full power and push through the baseball.

Check-out this full page on Rob's Pitching from last week.

Rob has good 60/40 weight distribution, but his arm does not form the "L" we are looking for. His pitching coach calls it the "Field goal" in comparison the a referee signaling a good field goal, with arms raised upward. Rob's elbow is above shoulder which it great for "throwing downhill" and what we want.

Good plant foot pointed toward target. Notice Rob's whole body seeming to be focused toward his catcher. Although again, as others, his glove hand is not tucking toward the chest.

All-in-all Great Practices Boys!!!

Coach Aten is very excited about our growth the past few weeks.

We are all learning a lot from one another.

Hope the diagrams help!
