The Berea Braves 12U Travel Team participated in the American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame Invitational Tournament Aug 4th -9th

 

Saturday Aug 4: Brandon Haney finished 8th in the Golden Arm Contest. Peter Harmon competed in the Road Runner competition, Marc Powers competed in the King of Swat and the team finished with a score of 40.34 in the Around the Horn competition.

 

Sunday Aug 5: Ryan Aten doubled and Jacob Saar went 1-for-1 as the Braves were downed 10-0 in regulation play by Team Titans from Florida. In the second game, Brandon Haney went 2-for-2 with an RBI double in the first inning and Jacob Fischer launched a three-run blast in the second Inning as the Braves succumbed to the Coastal Carolina Crush (NC) 19-5.

 

Monday Aug 6: Marc Powers sent a first pitch blast over the center field wall in the afternoon game in a (17-8) loss to the Southern Maine Dawg Pound. Ryan Aten went 2-for-3 from the plate, including a lead-off Home Run. Jacob Fischer went 2-3 w/ 2 RBI, Josh Payne went 2-2 as the Braves were defeated by the Palm Desert Storm of California (20-7).

 

Tuseday Aug 7: Jacob Fischer went 1-for-1 in the 11:00am morning game as the Braves were blanked by the Northbrook Spartans of Illinois (13-0). Jacob Saar went 2-for-3, while Peter Harmon went 2-for-2 w/ 3 Runs Scored & a RBI in the afternoon (23-8) loss against the Syracuse Jr. Skychiefs of New York.

 

Wednesday Aug 8: In Tournament Play; Ryan Aten went 3-4 with a double, walk, 2-RBI and pitched a Complete Game Win giving up only 2-earned runs, Xavier Elder went 2-2 w/ 2 HR's and 4 RBI, Marc Powers hit a HR, Joey Stuhldreher went 2-3 w/ 2 runs, as the Braves won their first tournament game 14-5 verse the Barrington White of Illinois. The team advanced in the single elimination Tournament, but were downed (21-9)  by the Bethlehem Eagles of New York.

BRAVES COME UP HUGE IN WIN OVER THE BARRINGTON WHITE

(From left to right) Xavier Elder, Marc Powers & Ryan Aten were big contributors in the Braves lone win at Cooperstown. Xavier Homered twice in the win over the Barrington White of Illinois. Marc Powers also Homered in the game, it was his second Home Run of the tournament. Ryan Aten went 3-for-4 from the plate in the Win and Pitched the team to a Complete Game. The three friends had a great series in Cooperstown and will take home many memories, including five Home Run balls between them!
