Tuesday July 25th, 2006
Lou Groza Field # 2, Berea OH
| GAME RECAP: | ||||
|
Both starting pitchers, Ineman and O'conner got out of the first inning without allowing runners that had reached second to score, and both breezed thru the second inning. Avon Lake was the first to put a run on the board in the 3rd, on a leadoff walk by Hecht, a single by Grosel, and a sac fly by O'conner. Mathews relieved Ineman in the 5th for a scoreless inning. Suvak lead off the 5th for the Devils with a single, followed by single off the bat of Siciliano, and Independence tied the game 1-1 on a Steffas RBI single. The Shoremen had a big 6th inning as O'conner, Scnieder, and Rodgers all drew walks to load the bases, and Clapp drove 2 home, Durkin drove in the 3rd, and Avon Lake was up 4-1. Indy answered back as Mathews and Ineman, drew base on balls, Suvak and Siciliano belted singles and Martin walked as well. Big Runs Batted In were driven in on singles by Bugaj and Steffas...and the Devils jumped back on top 6-4. Shoremen, Grosel lead off the 7th with a single, but Indy turned a double play to wipe the bases clean, and lock up the championship. Mathews picked up the win .
